Shinsyoji temple is on the slightly elevated hill which went to north about 7km from the Hotumisakiji
temple to a national highway.
This temple is called the Tudera in this area. Kobo Daishi opened it in 807.
The Kobo Daishi wished the safety of a voyage of fishermen and the bumper fish crop, he carved the
Enmei guardian deity of children and deified.
The Enmei guardian deity of children of the principal image has the following episode.
In 1602 off Muroto, lord Kazutoyo Yamauchi of Tosa encountered the rainstorm suddenly.
Then, one priest from where appeared, the rudder of a ship was taken, and the ship was able to be
safely arrived at the harbor. When Kazutoyo attached the priest back who took the rudder, he went into
the main temple of the Shinsyoji temple. He went into the main temple, and when the door of the
principal image was opened, there was a Enmei guardian deity of children in which it got wet in sea
water. Since then, people have called the principal image the Kazitori guardian deity of children, and
have been respected by ship people as the protection Buddha of marine safety.
Mr. Yamauchi made this temple the prayer place.
Although the temple was abolished by abolish the Buddha: destroy Sakyamuni of the Meiji first year,
it was revived again in Meiji 16.
