 The Ryukouji Temple is located in Mima town which is the northeast of Uwajima city from Kanjizaiji
temple about 55km. We can enjoy seeing the beautiful rias (Uwakai national park) from the Kanzizaiji
temple in the middle of the way. Snug Main Temple and Taishido stand at the place which went up to the
top stone steps. Kobo Daishi who visited this ground met the old man who carried the rice on the back in
February, 807. The old man announced, "I need to protect the instruction of the Buddha with this
background, and need to wish for people's happiness."
 Just this old man protected Buddhism and the Daishi thought the incarnation of the Buddha
appearance which brings about the good harvest of five cereals.Then, the Inari great gracious god was
ingraved, the Inari mountain and the Ryukouji were named, and they were provided in the amulet-issuing
office of No. 41.Then, this temple collected faith of this area as the Inari temple. In the temple, Main
Temple became the company of the Inari shrine by abolish the Buddha: destroy Sakyamuni of the Meiji
first year. Then, under stone steps, new Main Temple was built and eleven-faced Goddess of Mercy is
deified as the principal image. Former Main Temple's Inari shrine is loved as "Oinarisan" of this area.
