Enmeiji Temple is located in Imabari city distant from Enmeiji Temple about 35km.
It stands at the base of a mountain of a quiet village. Gyoki bodhisattva carved Fudo
Myoo in the Tempyo age, and deified to the Tikami mountain's top as the principal
image. That is the beginning of the temple. After that Kobo Daishi visited and self-
trained, revived the devastated temple, and considered it as learning and the exercise
hall of faith. By the fire of repeated wars after that, the temple equipped with the 7hall
Buddhist temple declined. The temple moved to the present ground in 1727. At the bell
of the precincts of the temple, it is described that it was cast in 1704.
The tradition that this bell sank in the sea itself and resisted pillage when Chosokabe's
soldier carried to the ship remains.
There is a grave of village headman Magobei. He asked of the feudal lord and had tax
made cheap. So he did not take out the strvation person from the village to the year of
famine.
