 The Kokubunji Temple is located in Kokubunji town which went to about 7km east from
the Tenouji Temple. If you pass through the temple gate, the calm approach of pine
grove continues.
 It is one of the temples where Emperor Shomu built Kokubunji Temples to the
countries in 741.The Gyuki-bosatu visited this ground and deified the Dyuitimen
Kannon as the principal image.Then, Kobo Daishi visits, the principal image is restored,
equipment of the temple is prepared, and it is said that it provided in the No. 80
amulet-issuing office.
 In the Age of Civil Wars,the Chosokabe Mototika burned almost all buildings in war
which aims at Shikoku unification. However, the Main Temple and the Bell tower were
not burned.Then, the temple received protection of the Takamatsu Feudal lord, Mr.
Ikoma, and it prospered in response to Mr. Feudal lord Matsudaira's protection at the
Edo period continuously. The principal image and the bell were specified as the national
treasure in Meiji Era. After the war, the principal image, the Main Temple, and the Bell
became an important cultural property by reexamination of a cultural property.
