　The Negoroji Temple is in Aomine which progressed about 8km mountain path from the
Shiramineji Temple.The stone steps surrounded by trees continue even to the Main
Temple. It is a famous place of autumnal leaves in fall. Before Kobo Daishi crosses to
Tang, he prayed for the safety of the sea route and deified the Buddha statue. It is said
that it is the beginning of the Negoroji Temple. Then, Tisho Daishi visited in 832, the
Sendyu Kannon bodhisattva was sculptured as principal image and he built the temple.
　Since the Heian last stage came and the Goshirakawa abdicated emperor with a Buddhist
order considered it as the prayer place. As the result,the temple prospered.
　When it became the Age of Civil Wars, the temple suffered the damage by war and
declined. The Takamatsu Feudal lord revived the present building in Kanbun era 1664.
　The Main Temple of corridor form is new also of 88 holy places. A long time ago, the
monster called Ushioni was in this Aomine, and the villager was troubled by him.
　The expert of a bow ,Takakiyo Yamada was ordered extermination of Ushioni.
　He prays to the temple, wins splendidly and says that he dedicated the angle of a big
Ushioni to the temple.
